Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Information

I sooo apologize for not updating my blog since June! It's been a very hectic summer. In addition to the normal crazy-busy schedule that comes with summer, my husband and I have been planning our Las Vegas-themed wedding reception for October, and it's taking up all my free time.

Just wanted to let you all know that Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Services is open for business!

Below is some information about the company I felt was worth sharing. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

First of all, Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Services is owned and operated my Jessica Welsh. I have no employees at this time. I perform all the cleaning myself, and I take pride in a job well done. I have an attention to detail that is unlike most others. I use products that are environmentally safe and natural and smell pleasant. I do an excellent job, and I am getting word-of-mouth referrals all the time because of it.

Cozgroovy Green Cleaning provides all required cleaning supplies to perform the job. Also, sponges that are used in your home are designated for your household only. One is for the kitchen, one is for the bathroom (fyi: bathroom sponge never touches the toilet). Sponges are then brought to my home, disinfected, then set aside in a bag labelled with your name. This is to maintain safe and healthy cleaning standards.

Essential oils are frequently used in a standard Cozgroovy Green Cleaning. People love them! I have quite an extensive collection of scents that you can choose from. Otherwise, if you have no preference, I'll pick the scent for you. If you prefer no scent, we can do that too! :-)

Every home is unique; therefore, we price our services by the job based on the needs of your household. We take into consideration the size of the home, number of rooms and bathrooms, level of cleanliness, how many occupants (including pets), among other factors in estimating your home cleaning fee. The first-time cleaning rate is set a bit higher than consecutive cleanings. If you're looking to set up regular cleanings, subsequent rates would be less than the first-time cleaning job rate.

If you're interested in Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Services, please call or send me an email, and I'll send you a Cozgroovy policy manual along with a list of cleaning services that are provided.

Hope to hear from you soon! I look forward to meeting your home cleaning needs in the future.

How to Throw a "Green" Baby Shower

Babies! Babies! And more Babies!

Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of people are having babies lately? Maybe I'm just at the age where it's a pretty common occurrence. :-) At any rate, I have a lot of friends who are expecting, as well as a good part of my client base. One of my friends is actually having a "green" baby shower and gave me the wonderful idea for this blog.

I've researched many websites and find the following to be most informative. Check 'em out!

http://www.greendreamsbaby.com/pages/how-to-have-a-green-shower

http://www.ehow.com/how_2179843_throw-eco-friendly-baby-showerthrow-eco-friendly-baby-shower.html

http://planetgreen.discovery.com/home-garden/throw-an-ecofriendly-baby-show.html

Some common ideas include:
Create postcard invitations using recycled paper (Even better -- create an email invite!)
Use real plates and silverware instead of paper plates and plastic silverware.
Wrap gifts in eco-friendly alternatives (eg. baby blanket, cloth diaper, newspaper)

There are a lot of terrific ideas in the links provided above, and it's a great place to start. The bottom line is that throwing a "green" baby shower is easier than you might think. All you need to do is tap into your creative side and let the fun begin.

If you have ideas you'd like to share for a "green" baby shower, please send them my way!

As always, Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Services, LLC is committed to a "green"er way of life!

How to Make Your Own "Green" Laundry Detergent

I've been doing laundry on a daily basis lately due to my many cleaning jobs so I tried to come up with a "green," cost-savings alternative. I have decided to make my own laundry detergent and thought maybe some of you may like to do the same. Here's how!

Items Needed
  • 1 bar of Organic Soap (Very Important! This is what's going to make the detergent "green" so make sure there are no chemicals in the bar of your choosing. My favorite is Dr. Bronner's, available in scents such as rose, lavender, peppermint, and more. The bar of soap is also where you'll be getting the scent from so make sure it's something you'd want your clothes to smell like.)
  • 1 box of Washing Soda (found in the laundry aisle)
  • 1 box of Borax (also found in the laundry aisle)
  • 5 gallon bucket w/ a lid (I bought mine at Home Depot.)
  • potato peeler
  • spoon
  • measuring cup
  • water

Step 1

Put 4 cups of water into pan and set just below high. While waiting for water to (lightly) boil, shave bar of soap with potato peeler into the pan. Once the whole bar of soap is shaved into the water, stir the hot water until the soap is fully dissolved.

Step 2

Put 3 gallons of hot water into 5 gallon bucket. Then mix in the soapy water we made in step 1. Stir for a minute or two, then add 1 cup of Washing Soda. Stir again, then add 1/2 cup of Borax. Stir a minute or so longer, put the lid on, then let it sit overnight to cool.

And that's it! In the morning, you'll have a bucket full of slimey, gooey laundry detergent that you made yourself. One cup of this slime should suffice for a normal load of laundry. The ingredients are comparative to that used in laundry detergent you buy at the store -- only minus the harmful chemicals. Out of the 3 plus gallons you made, you should get about 52 loads of laundry out of it.

This adds up to an abundance of savings in the long run, and it's fun to make too!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me. I'd love to hear from you!

This recipe is Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Services, LLC approved!!

Cleaning Products I Love & Trust

"So what products do you use?" is, of course, a very popular question I am often asked while out giving estimates so I thought it would be beneficial to blog about it.

My first choice is Shaklee. (http://www.shaklee.com/homecare1.html)
I use the all-purpose spray (Basic H2) regularly which is great on anything from countertops to sinks, from linoleum to marble to formica...you name it! This versatile cleaning product is a go-to favorite that never lets me down.
The Scour Off paste is also my top choice for oven cleaning.

Another personal favorite of mine are the Sound Earth products. (http://soundearth.com/index.htm)
I enjoy the Wood Food polish/cleaner for wood. I use the Earthly Bliss scent (blend of rich wooded scents).

And in addition to the aforementioned cleaning products, I create some of my own using baking soda, white distilled vinegar, lemon juice, and essential oils. Some essential oils have powerful disinfecting properties and are highly antibacterial. I have a variety of scents and have recently been experimenting with blending them to come up with an entirely new scent. It's been a fun learning experience.

Cozgroovy Green Cleaning Services, LLC is proud to use only environmentally safe, all-natural cleaning products!

Please feel free to contact me with any green cleaning questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!
